What I do

My mission is to help women thrive in their careers. Whether it's negotiating your salary or networking like a pro, I've spent years developing curriculum that will help you get recognized and rewarded at work.

I provide one-on-one coaching, facilitate workshops, and speak and/or moderate panels. My specialities include the subjects listed below; I'm also happy to craft programming specific to your needs, goals, and budget.

Say hi at claire@ladiesgetpaid.com.

  • How to talk about your accomplishments to demonstrate your worth
  • Exercises to help you relieve anxiety
  • Go over different negotiation scenarios + what to do

How to Nail the Interview

Do you feel uncomfortable "bragging" about yourself? Do you dread interviewing? Don't worry! I got you :)

Key takeaways:

  • How to tell your story as it relates to the job you're applying for
  • Determine your most impressive accomplishments
  • Spin your soft skills and experiences to demonstrate why you're valuable - particularly relevant for career changers.
  • Deal with imposter syndrome - the feeling that you're not worthy or somehow a fraud.
  • Identify your "super powers" - aka things that are special about you that you may not even realize!
  • Prep for commonly asked questions
  • Prep questions you'll ask them

Get Recognized and Rewarded

Let's admit it: putting your head down and working hard isn't enough to get recognized at work. You also need to advocate for yourself.

I'll help you embrace your strengths, get comfortable with "promoting" yourself, and identify opportunities where you can raise your hand to become a leader at work. The goal? Make sure everyone sees how friggin' awesome you are so you can get what you want.

Key takeaways include:

  • Understand what behaviors and mindsets may be holding us back at work
  • Speak up about our accomplishments without feeling awkward
  • Make our manager our advocate
  • Find leadership opportunities
  • Bonus: Create a career growth game plan!

Find Your Unique Voice and Effectively Communicate Your Value

To stand out in the job market, it's crucial that you know your value and can express it in a compelling way. The first step is to understand what makes you special, carefully selecting past experiences that highlight your personality, interests, and work ethic.

I'll walk you through the steps of preparing a LinkedIn, CV, and even a personal website to ensure you're showcasing not only what you've done, but who you are and what you're capable of doing.

Key takeaways include:

  • Do a deep dive into past experiences and environments to discover what makes you thrive
  • Identify your hard and "soft" skills
  • Develop a framework for how to best present yourself online through your LinkedIn, CV, and/or personal website
  • Gain confidence about the work you've done and what you can do

Protect Your Energy and Let Go of Perfectionism

Do you constantly feel drained and on the verge of burnout? Are you super hard on yourself, constantly focusing on your mistakes and never stopping to feel proud of your accomplishments?

I'll teach you how to set boundaries at work, handle mistakes with grace, and embrace who you are, flaws and all.

Key takeaways include:

  • Integrate a daily mindfulness practice
  • Prioritize and time manage our day
  • Communicate our boundaries
  • Be kinder to ourselves
  • Take responsibility for our mistakes without beating ourselves up

How to Combat Imposter Syndrome and Embrace Your Self-Worth

Imposter Syndrome is the nagging feeling that you're not good enough. That despite your external success, you're somehow a fraud and will one day be found out. That you're still "faking it to make it" and you're unworthy of praise. Screw that.

I'll give you tools to combat Imposter Syndrome so you deeply believe in your value and can better advocate for yourself at work and in your life.

Key takeaways include:

  • Understand what Imposter Syndrome is and how we are socialized to feel it

  • Identify all the ways it manifests itself
  • Shift our mindset
  • Implement in-the-moment actions to prevent us from spiraling

New Grads: Get Set Up For Success

I created this class to set recent grads up for success before they spend too much time working in jobs they don't like or staying in environments that don't reward them. This class incorporates aspects of the following workshops plus an exploration of values to help determine the right direction for you to go.

Key takeaways include:

  • Effectively communicate your value through your CV and LinkedIn
  • How to nail the interview
  • Prepare to negotiate
  • Establish good communication with your boss (i.e. “managing up”)

How to Leverage Your Network for Opportunities

Networking events can sometimes be the worst, even for the most extroverted among us. Who do you talk to first? Where do you stand? Do you have to have business cards? What if you don't have a straight-forward answer to the dreaded question, "what do you do?"

Networking doesn't have to be a necessary evil, when done right it can actually be - gasp! - fun. Mastering how to network like a pro (without feeling sleazy) is one of the most important things you can do not only for your career but for your personal life as well.

Key takeaways include:

  • Organize your network
  • Identify key people
  • How to set up an informational interview
  • Scripts that can help you avoid small talk

How to Build Community

In less than 18 months, I grew the Ladies Get Paid community to more than 20,000 members from all 50 states and 60 countries. I also organized 160 events in 18 cities with a 2-person team and no funding.

I want to share with you how I did it.

Key takeaways include:

  • How to create word of mouth marketing
  • Organize memorable events that foster community
  • Best practices to moderating an online community
  • Make people feel special

The Accidental Activist

When I created Ladies Get Paid, I didn't intend to start a business. I was motivated to combat the wage and leadership gap and saw the power in bringing women together to discuss workplace struggles in a safe space.

Less than 18 months later, I was sued for gender discrimination by members of a men's rights group. I want to help you stand up for what you believe in and rally others to support you.

Key takeaways include:

  • Identify issues that matter to you
  • How to motivate others to support you
  • The challenges of being a social entrepreneur
  • How to stay strong in the face of adversity

How to Run a Successful Crowdfunding Campaign

The idea of raising money can be daunting. I've run two campaigns that raised more than $130,000 from over 2,000 backers and I'd love to share with you what I learned.

Key takeaways include:

  • Write your pitch in a compelling way
  • Create a marketing plan
  • Figure out your rewards + determine your margins
  • Set up an outreach system
